Scott's Notes - Cakewalk Books and Sweetwater PC
Jam-packed with free info and free software, this issue brings you articles on Cakewalk's new Sonar 6 AudioSnap, Session Drummer 2, and V-Vocal features. You'll also find info on EZDrummer, Cubase 4, Vegas 7, Guitar Pro and other products as well as informative discussions about Pro Tools, live performance, studio renovating and more. And to top it all off... a whole bunch of new, free software downloads for Mac and Windows. But before we get to that, let me tell you about the cool, new gear addition to my studio...
NEW SWEETWATER CREATION STATION AUDIO PC (DAW)
Yes, it was that time again... My old DAW has served me well (and I still use it), but I needed something more powerful so earlier this year I got myself a new DAW. Instead of building it myself, I wanted a full system put together by computer techs that really know their business when it comes to audio PCs, which led me to Sweetwater and their Creation Station DAWs. I got their top-of-the-line model Creation Station RackDual 3.4. This thing is a monster and runs anything I throw at it. The CS is hands down the best PC I have ever owned! And because I love it so much, I'm putting together a special issue of the DigiFreq newsletter to tell you all about my experience with it. In the meantime, you can find more Creation Station info by clicking this link:
I've also started a special topic in the DigiFreq Forums to discuss this new DAW. So drop on buy and ask some questions and I'll do my best to answer them:
SONAR 6 POWER BOOK
Speaking of new stuff... my new Sonar 6 Power book is almost here! As a matter of fact, you can pre-order it right now. New topics covered include: Active Controller Technology, AudioSnap, Vintage Channel, Session Drummer 2, New Synth Rack and Console View, Analyst Spectrum Analyzer, New Automation features, Customizable menus and toolbars, Fast Zoom, Automatic File Versioning, and more. For more information, free book excerpts, project downloads, and a discount, go to:
OTHER SONAR 6 RESOURCES
In addition to my book, I've found some other Sonar learning resources that might interest you. I didn't author these products, but that doesn't mean you won't like them.
Cakewalk Synthesizers Book
Cakewalk's software synthesizers are some of the most powerful and widely used on the market. This book shows you how to operate and get the best results from their complete range of synths, from those bundled with Cakewalk's main products, to the rgc:audio synthesizers, to Cakewalk's newest synthesizers, including Dimension Pro and Rapture. Discusses filters, envelopes, effects, the sfz format, how to create patches, and more. Check it out at:
Sonar 6 Video Training Course (DVD)
Video training course covering all aspects of audio and midi recording, editing, mixing, and mastering for Cakewalk Sonar 6 digital audio workstation software. Includes project examples. This course contains 19 modules and is organized into 5 sections. Check it out at:
NOTE: If you plan to purchase my book or any of these other items, PLEASE use my Amazon links. This will help me out tremendously, but it does NOT change the price you pay.
Thanks for being a part of DigiFreq and for all your support! Enjoy the issue...
