Yamaha Drums brings its renowned electronic drum technology within reach of the beginner, traditional musician, hobbyist and educator with this year’s introduction of the DTXPLORER. Currently shipping, the versatile DTXPLORER (Model DXPL) is ideal for personal practice, live performance, teaching studios and music lab applications.

The 5-piece kit includes high-impact rubber pads with natural feel and rebound, mounted on a sturdy folding ribbed rack. For added convenience, the kit also features an FP-6110 bass drum pedal and coded cabling snake for quick and easy setup.

At the heart of the DTXPLORER is a compact drum trigger module, equipped with a 16-bit/32-note polyphony tone generator that produces amazingly realistic, physically modeled voices—214 drum and percussion sounds, 22 preset songs and 32 preset drum kits covering rock, funk, jazz, reggae and Latin styles—plus a selection of digital onboard effects. Users can also create and store up to nine custom kits. The module also includes the Groove Check practice feature, a multi-function metronome, easy-view backlit LCD display and simple “plug and play” connections.

“Yamaha’s DTX Series has always set a standard in performance and value,” states Dave Jewell, marketing manager, Yamaha Drums. “Even though the new DTXPLORER represents an unbelievably low price point for a fully-equipped electronic set, no drummer, percussionist or music educator will be disappointed with the quality of sounds or the functionality of this kit. It’s at home on stage, in the studio and even in the classroom.”

Devices such as a CD player can be connected to the module via an AUX IN, while a PC or Mac computer can be connected via MIDI. In addition, the DTXPLORER module can be used with a traditional acoustic drum kit as a stand-alone trigger module.

The DTXPLORER will easily integrate with the new Yamaha LC2 modular music lab system for teaching and group learning applications. And, like all Yamaha DTX electronic kits, players can practice and perform in complete privacy using headphones.
