Furman Sound Factor Pro Rackmount Announced

Furman Sound has announced an enhanced single-space, rack-mount version of its Power Factor Pro floor/stage power conditioner, designed to optimize amplifier performance. The new Power Factor Pro R includes more than double the number of outlets and a BNC connector for attaching a rack-illuminating gooseneck lamp.

"Most musicians have never heard the quality of sound that their amplifiers are capable of producing because contaminated AC power has been the norm for as long as they have been performing," said Dave Keller, executive vice president of Furman Sound. "Stadiums, bars, and rehearsal spaces all utilize the same noise-degraded power sources that make amplifiers sound muddy at peak moments. Our Power Factor Pro R is the most comprehensive power conditioner ever created for the serious musician. It purifies power for optimal sound production, stores extra current to enable maximum performance, and protects sensitive electronics from surges, spikes, overvoltages, and other potentially devastating conditions."

Integral to the Power Factor Pro R is Furman's Power Factor Correction technology, which lowers the AC line impedance supplied by wall outlets and reserves a current surplus for peak demands. It provides a minimum of 3 amps of continuous current reserve and maintains a surplus of over 45 amps to address the extreme transient power demands of guitar solos and dramatic climaxes.

Power Factor Correction is coupled with another of Furman's proprietary technologies, Series Multi-Stage Protection Plus (SMP+), which combines three filtering and protection circuits. Linear Filtering Technology (LiFT) suppresses noise dramatically and consistently across the entire dynamic range, a vast improvement over typical AC filters with non-linear circuits that reduce noise unevenly and can even add noise. Series Multi-Stage Protection (SMP) clamps and dissipates damaging transient voltages at the highest degree available without sacrificing itself. It can continue to do its job again and again without repair or replacement. And Extreme Voltage Shutdown (EVS) circuitry protects against accidental connections to 208 or 240 VAC by shutting off the incoming power until the overvoltage condition is corrected.

The Power Factor Pro R is housed in a compact single-space, rack-mount chassis and has eight outlets on the rear panel plus an easy-to-reach ninth on the front panel. A BNC connector on the rear panel can be used to attach any standard 12-volt gooseneck lamp to illuminate the back of the rack. The Power Factor Pro R is rated for 12 amps and has a 20-segment voltmeter on the front panel that displays the incoming line voltage in a range of 90 to 128 volts. A three-year limited warranty covers defects in materials and workmanship.
