| Be A Rock Wizard - Win A Free Theremin From La Rockers Mardo! | ||||||
The strange black box on a stand with two antennas is getting new life thanks to the hot hard rocking band Mardo, who will be offering up a free Theremin in a contest launched July 13, 2005. The fan who submits the best photo of themselves with a copy of Mardo's self-titled debut album will win the prized instrument and lessons from lead singer/bass player/theremin maestro Aron "The Wizard" Mardo. "The Theremin is the most popular member of the band!" said Aron. "Everyone is just mesmerized by it." The instrument, perhaps best known for its role in the Beach Boys "Good Vibrations," produces cool sounding space sounds without any physical contact with the player. "It doesn't take much musical talent – all you have to do is move your hands. But if don't have any use for it musically, it is a great way to scare your friends because it can sound like a ghost real easily." The Theremin kicks off one of the most memorable songs on Mardo's album, "Poor Paul," a fist-punching anthem with catchy chanting and is a major player in "Cold Creepin,'" which is currently being featured in a Dodge Charger campaign. Mardo just filmed a video for their second single "Anyone But Me" and will be back on the road shortly. The contest ends on August 15th, 2005 and Mardo will determine a winner based on originality.
