CyberLink Corp., a leading developer in providing integrated solutions for the Digital Home, announced today that CyberLink Power2Go and PowerBackup—featuring DVD-R Dual Layer DVD-R (DL) recording utilizing layer jump recording (LJR) technology—now supports MediaTek’s optical storage chipsets.
Both CyberLink Power2Go and CyberLink PowerBackup are compatible with MediaTek chipsets and support DVD-R (DL) recording that utilizes LJR technology. Different from sequential recording (SR), LJR technology alternates and distributes data evenly between both layers during the burning process. Not only will this allow for multi-session burning, it also reduces background noise and enhances signal quality. Therefore, higher disc reading compatibility is achieved along with the benefit of burning video, TV recording, data, music, and photos onto dual layer discs capable of storing up to 8.5 GB of data compared to 4.7 GB single layer discs.
"We chose to collaborate with CyberLink on a dual layer solution because of their world-renown expertise in the field of recording technology, " said Alex Chen, Director of Sales and Marketing of MediaTek Inc. "Our successful implementation of DVD-R dual layer recording utilizing layer-jump recording technology via MediaTek solution illustrates the extent to which both companies are assuming a pioneering role in delivering burning solutions."
"We are excited and proud to announce CyberLink Power2Go’s and PowerBackup’s support for DVD-R (DL) recording utilizing LJR technology with MediaTek chipsets. The current climate of DVD recording is gravitating towards proven solutions from hardware and software partnerships, providing a distinct advantage for OEM customers," said Alice H. Chang, CEO of CyberLink. “CyberLink software technologies coupled with MediaTek’s IC chipset solutions ensure OEM customers support for the latest recording technologies.”
