Larry Crane, editor and founder of Tape Op Magazine and owner/engineer of Jackpot! Recording Studio, is now accepting students for his Weekend Recording Workshops series. This workshop series focuses on "Getting Great Sounds", and with the assistance of a multi-instrumentalist/songwriter will follow the recording of a song from beginning to end.
The process will include many comparisons of different mics, recording techniques and equipment. These Recording Workshops are geared towards home recordists, musicians and budding engineers who are looking to improve their knowledge and techniques, and will focus on how to achieve high quality recordings on a budget.
Sessions will be composed of two eight-hour days, starting at 11 AM and ending at 7 PM and held at Jackpot! Recording Studio, 1925 SE Morrison, Portland, OR 97214. There will be a maximum of ten students per workshop. Classes are $300 for two days, and include handouts and lunch. During the workshop questions are encouraged, this is a very interactive class. Previous classes in 2003 and 2004 have gone very well, to full attendance, with enthusiastic response.
