Nine Inch Nails’ is “Only” looking at one very exclusive group of people to remix their newest single: anyone with a computer! In a unique collaboration between the ACIDplanet® online service (http://www.acidplanet.com), one of the leading online music creation communities, and MySpace.com, the leading social networking lifestyle portal, fans can create their own, remixed versions of the new Nine Inch Nails song “Only” using Sony Media Software’s award-winning ACID music creation technology. Original remixes will be posted on www.myspace.com/ninremixes where fans are encouraged to visit the site and vote for their favorite version.

The contest follows on the success of Nine Inch Nails’ recent release of the single "The Hand that Feeds," which was made available in GarageBand™ format from Apple®. Having reached a significant number of users, Nine Inch Nails’ leader Trent Reznor and Interscope Records chose to expand the scope of the effort by offering this new single constructed in audio .wav files, the most ubiquitous sample format, which is suitable for use in most music creation applications such as ACID software

“The ACIDplanet online community is very large and consists of incredibly devoted music fans, which parallels the Nine Inch Nails’ following,” said Courtney Holt, head of new media for Interscope Records. “Not only are we expanding the contest by including leading remix technology from Sony Media Software, but we are tapping into an ideal audience that we are sure will be thrilled to turn Nine Inch Nails’ complex soundscapes upside-down.”

Anyone can now join Nine Inch Nail’s Trent Reznor in a virtual studio to modify his latest hit track. Using the free software application, ACID Xpress, found at ACIDplanet.com, users will be able to unfold Nine Inch Nail’s newest track and reconstruct it to create their own version. Completed tracks can be uploaded to MySpace.com’s special remix page www.myspace.com/ninremixes where visitors will able to sample the wide variety of ways in which the music has been changed.

“ACIDplanet has helped fuel the tremendous growth of the online remix community, giving the recording industry access to a highly targeted audience of fans eager to interact with their favorite musicians,” said Dave Chaimson, vice president of marketing for Sony Media Software. “We know that Trent Reznor and Interscope will be amazed by the outstanding level of knowledge and creativity that the ACIDplanet community contributes to this worldwide remix promotion.”

“Music has been a catalyst for enabling the digital lifestyle. MySpace connects music fans by adding interesting and organic applications that further enhance their online and offline experiences,” said Chris DeWolfe, chief executive officer of MySpace. “We know there is a huge audience of Nine Inch Nails fans on MySpace.com as evidenced by the tremendous success of our exclusive pre-release of their album [With_Teeth] on our site. We are thrilled to work with ACIDplanet and Interscope on this groundbreaking music experience.”

The ACIDplanet online service is the Internet's leading community of digital musical visionaries. ACIDplanet citizens compose original music, remix major label artists, and collaborate on a wide range of audio and video projects. In addition to Nine Inch Nails, a diverse group of artists for remixing, ranging from Madonna to Depeche Mode to De La Soul have been featured on the ACIDplanet service.
