Having heard this artist on NPR, I immediately got two of her CDs. Though not ordinarily drawn to Irving Berlin, she really does him proud. Her voice is unique, as is her style. The accompaniment is superb, as well. There are no misses on this CD, though I particularly liked Alexander's Ragtime Band, Pack up your Sins and Go to the Devil, and Yiddishe Nightingale - the CD is worth it for those three alone!

Delightful CD, a true listening experience for both neophytes and devotees of Broadway and the American Songbook. Her phrasings are so subtle and her tone so warm. She makes it seem as though she was either born singing this music or it was written for her, though one has to marvel at how much work must have gone into her finesse with both brassy, foot-stamping numbers and sweet, sad ballads. Thanks as another reviewer has noted to Jonathan Schwartz on public radio for playing her music and John Schaeffer on WNYC's Soundcheck for a wonderful interview with her about this CD.
