Finally SampleTank 3 is at prerelease! I watched all these Jordan Rudess videos (most are under a minute and he does stop talking/introducing himself). He plays something to demo a variety of sounds, like 30? Very cool sounds. (great player!)

I thought I had this covered (the cost of upgrading is $99 for me, if I get preorder)with my Jam Points and Custom Shop credits, but the Jam Points don't work for Pre- Release orders. I haven't found out if my CS credits are useable, yet.
A boxed version will come out when ST3 is released.

I forgot to mention that the $99 preorder upgrade price is available to registered owners of SampleTank 2 XL and Miroslav Philharmonik. I got both with Total Studio Bundle 3.

I haven't figured out when the price goes up to $149 and don't know anything about the boxed version(like when it's available or how much)

Sounds good. I'll have to check it out when it's released. I already have Kontakt and use that for most sample playback, but we'll see. New tools are always nice.

Yeah, I would love to add Kontakt Ultimate!

But I am excited about the ST3 even if I have to finagle $99 from the money I have stashed for the next 3 guitars! LOL

Michael

ps which Komplete do you have, Scott?

If I understand things correctly, then June is the Preorder period, and July is when it is "Released".

Jam Points can be used then, apparently. Unfortunately Custom Shop credits cannot. (I have a bunch)

For people with other (than ST2 XL and Miroslav)IK products, they are "counting" those, and allowing a "crossgrade" discount.

I've got Komplete 8. The latest version is 9, but didn't have anything new that I needed.

I think you can get Kontakt separately though.

I have thought about Kontakt since so many things use it as their engine/player.

Nice stuff!

It appears that if I want the price, I have to buy it before July. If however I want the boxed version, I have to wait till July and then my Jam Points can be applied (though the price goes up from $99 to $149 for my upgrade).

So, getting it in June, really will depend on selling off some extraneous gear and perhaps surprise income. I've committed to buying this Washburn acoustic bari and am very eager to get 2 other Epiphone guitars, but they can wait till July-Aug. I am pretty sure I will upgrade to Addictive Drums 2, too.

Wouldn't it be nice to simply buy them all! Right now! LOL
But then I would have to buy a dozen guitar hangers, or I'd be climbing over them.

Yes, you can get Kontakt 5 separately. I got some kind of crazy deal that was so good I bought it separately even though I've got it in Komplete 8 Ultimate. Figured I could give it as a gift to someone for such a low price. Wish I could remember what I got it for - some Xmas deal if I recall correctly.

Otto... yeah, if I could own only one piece of NI software, KONTAKT would be it, although the other things included in KOMPLETE are nice to have as well.

A lot of libraries also work with the free Kontakt player, so the full version of Kontakt isn't always needed.

Michael... yeah... you've gotta pace yourself or you'll get GAS (Gear Acquisition Syndrome).

Seriously though... be sure to keep in mind what you already have too. You don't always need the latest and greatest, although it's definitely nice to have.

If I know I am going to upgrade then the best price is the variable to consider, unless budget sticks it's nose in there!

Yes, I do have lots of stuff already! Maybe I should buy some time! LOL

A lot of software synths (?) that I have looked at that use Kontakt, only work with the full version. That has kept me from exploring until I either get Kontakt or Komplete.

So, otto, old pal, hint, hint, wink, wink, etc ...still got that extra version for sale! LOL (I must be in a Monty Python mood)

NI has everything 50% off right now - upgrades, crossgrades, new products, Komplete 9, etc.

Thanks otto

Well, $99 to upgrade is pretty easily done, whereas $500 for Komplete Ulitmate, would cut into my paying off the next 3 guitars. I'd rather round out my guitar assortment, first.

I'll probably wait on going with the NI Komplete stuff, for now. Unless of course I come into a windfall!

I got an incredible deal on Komplete Ultimate 8. Can't even remember now what it was. I just remember that I jumped on the deal at the time and it was easy to justify in what I'd get in what I didn't have - or upgrades to what I had. Probably one of the best purchases I've ever made.

I have no doubt about that! You've got me thinking about how GC stores would have the previous version of stuff very cheap with free upgrade to the next/current new one.

I might have to call my nearest store. It's a 5 hour round trip, otherwise! So, I haven't been there in a long time!

I think I bought that Komplete 8 Ultimate deal directly from NI. There were a lot of great sales during the financial meltdown and the first few years after. People just weren't buying any extras, and companies were selling at cost just to raise their cash flow. That temporary phenomena seems to be about over. MF doesn't have their incredible 15% off sales anymore, for example.
