Adobe have released their CS2 suite of products for free as they are now 10 years old, and they want to shut down the license activation servers.
You can get...
Adobe Photoshop,
Adobe Audition (audio editing, formerly Cool Edit Pro),
Adobe Premier (Video Editiing) etc
... to name a few.
Here are two links to follow.

Cheers, and a happy New Year.

Hey Adriann,

Good to see you again! You haven't been around in a while.

Yep, I heard about this... I actually own most of that software, so I grabbed it, just in case I ever need to install it again.

Technically, you're supposed to only grab it if you already own a license, but it looks like Adobe doesn't care if everyone grabs it because they're not protecting the downloads in any way.

What have you been up to?

Happy New Year!

Any chance Audition 3.0 will run on W7?

Hey Ed,

Audition runs on Vista, so it will probably work on Win 7 too, but I haven't tried it yet, so I'm not totally sure.

All I want is an my beloved CoolEdit in 64 bit. Really. Is that too much to ask?

I'd read that SF 11 was gonna be 64 bit, but Sony seems to be ignoring it for Vegas.

Ha! Yeah, Cool Edit Pro is long gone now. And if Adobe is giving Audition away, it looks like that's dead too. Oh well, it still works.

I haven't heard anything about SF 11 yet...

Just FYI, I downloaded Adobe Audition 3.0. I installed it on the lappy to test before trying the studio machine. I opened a file and ran through what editing options there were, then closed it. I clicked to open Sonar 32 bit to try putting it in the tool menu and the machine locked up.

I rebooted, DL'd Revo Uninstaller, and zapped it out of my life.

I'm guessing it would run fine on XP, but that's the end.

Hi Old Goat,
I installed it on a Win XP 32bit PC, as well as a Win7 64bit without any problems.

Still haven't tried it on Win 7 but it works perfectly on Vista 32-bit. It could be problem with 64-bit and not Win 7.

Are you using it as a standalone DAW? I wanted the editing functions, but Sonar seems to be picky about who it plays with.

Hey Ed,

On Vista 32-bit, it works both stand-alone and also inside of SONAR 32-bit.

I'm 64 bit W7 everywhere except the studio net machine. Ah, well, no worse off than I was before.

Yep, and there's always Sound Forge. Audition is nice but I still use Sound Forge for most tasks.
