I'm getting a weird sound on playback...sort of like a clipping distortion that repeats a few times. Mainly on the kick sounds. I've checked my settings, volume levels, etc. and nothing seems to have changed, yet this problem exists in all projects, both old and new. Since it's global, I'm reasoning that it has to have something to do with the settings, since the distortion wasn't there originally.

I'm running Sonar6 PE on a pentium 4 @ 3.2 GHz, 2GB ram, with an Edirol
UA-25 interface, and a Sound Blaster Audigy 2ZS soundcard.

Any suggestions short of a reinstall?

Chris is there any way you can post a mix? If you can then also post here the times in the song where you hear the distortion. You know, like at 2:34 (kick), 3:13 (snare)...something like that.

And you say it's mostly the kick? What other instruments seem to be causing the anomaly?

Try adjusting your latency setting in the Options > Audio dialog box.

Also, try changing to a different sound card driver type... use ASIO instead of WDM or the other way around.

Why are you using a UA25 and a SB Audigy? trying to use both of them at the same time will give you a lot of problems. if you're trying to use one for recording and the other for playback you will get tracks that are out of sync if you can get them to work together at all.

use ASIO like Scott suggests, but then you will only be able to use either the UA25EX OR the SB card because ASIO only allows you to use one soundcard at a time (hint: use the SB card).

Thanks guys for the feedback. Scott, I'll try tweaking the latency. If I want to change drivers,do I have to download a driver like asio4all?
I never had trouble using the UA25 with the SB before, so I'm puzzled. Used it for about a year...no problems. I'd love to get ASIO working though. I'll get back...thanks for the help.

Hi Chris,

No, most audio interfaces include both WDM and ASIO drivers. Your UA-25 should have the drivers and they should have been installed.

In SONAR, you can access the driver type by choose Options > Audio > Advanced.
