IK Multimedia SampleTron

IK Multimedia is proud to announce that SampleTron, the second virtual instrument to be released from the Sonik Instruments’ range, is now shipping! Done in cooperation with Sonic Reality, SampleTron is a virtual instrument workstation featuring the most complete collection of authentic “Tron” and other vintage keyboards instrument samples ever released in one product. These were ingenious instruments; precursors of today’s samplers that used tapes to play back prerecorded sounds from the touch of the keys.

SampleTron include a massive library of 17 rare “Tron” instrument sounds, together with a “Powered by SampleTank” engine, offering extremely powerful editing features in an easy-touse, sample-based virtual instrument plug-in for every popular DAW and also as a standalone application for MAC and PC.

SampleTron includes the most complete “Tron” anthology ever released in one virtual instrument, with over 2 GB of sounds, 640 presets and 260 multi-samples from 17 rare and vintage Mellotrons®, Chamberlins™, and their derivatives like the Optigan™, Rhythmaster™ and much more.

There may be a group buy from eSoundz that includes this item along with extra stuff at a significant discount. SampleTron itself looks to be killer.

Yep, IK is making some very nice products. So far I've got SampleTank, SampleMoog, AmpliTube Jimi Hendrix. I need to get reviews done of this, which should be ready soon. Then I want to get my hands on ARC and check that out. It looks cool, but I wonder if it really works...

Is the CSReffect in Sampletank 2.5 XL the same reverb as what they are selling as the Classik Reverb? If so, that's a nice addition in the upgrade of Sampletank from version 2. What is ARC?

Yeah, the fx in SampleTank are really powerful. They include a huge list including some from the AmpliTube, T-Racks, and CSR products built-in, although I'm not sure if they include the same number of tweakable parameters. Same processing though.

Probably the last thing I had ever thought of owning was Sampletank, but here I am, from the fruits of the last eSoundz group buy now owning the thing, sans the XL samples, but otherwise the 2.5 XL engine. I guess I can bring in my Sonik Synth 2 sample content and I get a better engine to play those samples through with Sampletank. So that's fine with me. The vintage samples that they group buy focuses on are more in line with my interests too, though I don't know how they compare to the quality of the XL samples. I sometimes wonder if samples are getting sold out the back door to other companies for their products, so that when we buy a Quantum Leap Colossus and then something else, we might find that the same samples are in both. Maybe companies like Quantum Leap sell their samples out quietly as sample content for softsynths and such. You've got to figure that's going on. I wonder if I'm buying the same samples over and over sometimes.

I really have no idea, but when it comes to the EastWest/Quantum Leap stuff, I doubt it. SampleTank doesn't do disk streaming so it wouldn't be able to handle the huge samples from the EastWest libraries.

Hi Scott,

Any idea when you will evaluate ARC? If it works it would be really good.

Kind regards

Richard

Hi Richard,

Probably another month or so. I don't have it yet. I still have to get caught up with some other IK software reviews, which I'm working on now. Sorry. But I've heard good things and supposedly it does work.
