I'm just wondering what you Sony users are going to do now that most of their software has been sold to Magix. I only use Vegas for video stuff (never used Sonic Forge), but I tried using Magix Movie Edit Pro years ago, and it was always problematic, so I'm afraid this deal may not bode well for Sony users. I found it impossible to get any help from Magix. In fact, I'm surprised they're still in business.

Here's a thread on that and I think there's another one on this topic, too, though I can't recall what it was called...

http://www.digifreq.com/digifreq/discuss/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=12094

We (those on that first thread?) all got as many updates as we could before that Sony/Sound Forge site went down, if I recall correctly.

I haven't been using Sound Forge 8 at all, as it's on my old P4 machine with Sonar 5.2PE and I only occasionally burn CD's with CD Architect there (that PC).

Perhaps someone else recalls the other thread and can post a link.
You might find some of the discussions interesting/informative.

Hi Bill,

Welcome to DigiFreq! Where did you hear about the site? Just curious.

I'm still using the last Sony version of Vegas and I'm sure it will work fine for quite a while longer. Although, I'm also transitioning to HitFilm Pro, which is excellent. HitFilm is like a combination between Adobe Premiere and After Effects, so it provides both video editing and visual fx, compositing, etc.

Unfortunately, HitFilm doesn't yet provide dedicated multicam editing, so I still use Vegas for that.

Scott

Web search. Actually, I used to post here many years ago but stopped posting to forums a long time ago. Plus I used to have one of your Cakewalk books. I may post occasionally, but it won't be much.

I never heard of HitFilm. I'll search for it.

I used Premiere 6.5 back in the day. Vegas is easy to use and has most of things I need, but Premiere was certainly more comprehensive, and it's right-click menus were more useful.
