 We set out to create a virtual harmonica with a honkytonk soul… stylistically faithful to the country and blues music originating from old-time southern bars of the past. In other words: a twangy virtual harmonica that stands on its own, whether you’re backing up the band, or soloing over it.Trigger real, sampled vibrato performances for the extra realism, or intimately control our modeled vibrato engine instead. Go between "Normal" and "Bluesy" legato styles, and dig into an array of user controls and specialized articulation to craft a totally legit harmonica performance. We can't wait to see what you can create with this expressive virtual harmonica! Honkytonk Harmonica was recorded and produced as a serious VI, with lots of articulations, and a set of BLUESY legato/micro-phrase samples inspired by our Sensual Sax. The foundation of Honkytonk Harmonica are the “normal”/vanilla legato transitions, which are agile, realistic, transparent, and speed responsive. Perfect for slow, expressive melodies, and fast, virtuosic passages. The bluesy legato transitions, which are unlooped, are meant to be used occasionally for some extra expressive flare. Beyond the legato transitions, we created a large set of ornamental sustains and releases that heighten the realism of the instrument: Bend ins and outs, Glisses (in and out), Tremolos, and releases to help you craft the perfect melody! The Articulations / Samples • Sustains Non-vibrato and Vibrato variations, looped and beautiful! • Legatos More than 4 octaves, almost 2,000 legato transitions. Each sample was individually edited/timed/adjusted to so that they all fit together as seamlessly as possible. The “normal” legato is looped, and perfect for more lyrical (AKA chromatic harp style), and faster/agile performance. The “bluesy” legato is unlooped, and designed to be used for a bit of extra flare… that sample set is more varied in style and length. • Staccatos 2 variations of “shorts” at different velocities: Normal (lo vel) and Bend in (hi vel). • Glisses Triggered by KS or Velocity threshold, this is like a fast arpeggio attack followed by a normal sustain. • Bend Ins Triggered by KS or Velocity threshold, this extremely harmonica-esque articulation is a recorded bend/gesture, starting between a half/whole step below the target note. • Falls Triggered by KS only, Falls can also be thought of as “Bend Outs”. The’re a combination of a pitch bend, and a stylistic gesture going down a perfect fifth. • Trills The instrument features recorded minor 3rd and major 3rd trills, both progressive (starting slower and speeding up), and constant (staying the same speed) variations. • Releases A dedicated group of releases, so that when you release a note, you will hear a brief sample of Andy stopping sound naturally.
