Propellerhead Software Collection Installed On The John Lennon Educational Tour Bus

Propellerheads Software and the John Lennon Songwriting Contest have announced that a suite of the company’s software products has been selected as a key component of the John Lennon Educational Tour Bus. The company’s entire product line, including their acclaimed Reason 3.0, ReCycle 2.1, “Teaching Music With Reason” compilation, and ReFills have been provided to the Bus as part of Propellerhead’s official sponsorship of the nine year old venture.

The John Lennon Educational Tour Bus is a non-profit, mobile audio and multimedia recording studio outfitted with traditional musical instruments as well as high-tech audio and video solutions. The Bus tours the United States year-round to provide free hands-on training in songwriting, audio engineering, and music and video production. Hundreds of schools, children’s organizations, music festivals, concerts, and conventions have taken advantage of the Bus’ unique educational programs, which are also supported by a large number of well-known music icons such as the Grateful Dead’s Bob Weir, Black Eyed Peas, Mos Def, Carlos Santana, Al Jarreau, Tim McGraw, Amy Grant, and Sheryl Crow, to name a few.

“When we were approached by the organizers behind the John Lennon Educational Tour Bus, we found that their mission aligns perfectly with Propellerheads,” says Timothy Self, Propellerheads Director of U.S. Markets. “The Bus tours the country, providing people with an opportunity to turn their dreams of creating their own music into a reality. Many of the Bus’ first-time visitors have no idea how integrating a computer into their musical environment can open creative doors beyond their wildest imagination. We’re proud to have the opportunity to donate our software products for this very worthy endeavor.”

Reason 3.0, ReCycle 2.1, and the other products donated by Propellerheads will be running on the Bus’ extensive collection of Apple computers, including their two dual 2.7GHz G5 PowerMacs and eight G4 Powerbooks.

“We’re thrilled to have Reason software as part of our production suite,” says Brian Rothschild, executive director of the John Lennon Songwriting Contest and Educational Tour Bus. “It’s wonderful seeing a young musician’s eyes light up when he or she goes through their first tutorial on Reason 3.0 and thinks, ‘I can do this’”

About Reason
Reason is an enormously successful software title for both Windows and Mac OS that emulates the functionality of various recording studio equipment. By leveraging the power of modern computers, Reason provides a virtual music production studio in software, including electronic synthesizers, samplers, drum machines and mixing equipment.

With Reason, a musician can compose and produce music in much the same fashion as working in a recording studio, but at much less cost without the need for a specialized physical space and lots of hardware. Reason has been awarded Editor's Choice Awards from Electronic Musician, MacWorld, Remix, and Computer Music magazines, cnet.com, the mipa award for Best Software Instrument, and the highly coveted TEC award.

About Propellerheads Software

Formed in 1994, Propellerheads has created some of the most innovative new music software (ReBirth, ReCycle and Reason) and technology standards, including ReWire and the REX file format, which are used extensively in all kinds of music production.
