Stagegear 2008 Road Case Lineup
Posted by Scott R. Garrigus

Stagegear™ Inc., a 25-year leader in the design and manufacture of premium road cases, announced the release of the category’s most advanced line of new products. The launch –internally dubbed The 411 Series--represents a true departure from the traditional industry approach to designing road cases and offers customers some of the most frequently asked-for features, most of which appear in this product segment for the first time anywhere.

The new line incorporates many highly innovative upgrades that raise the performance bar for the entire business segment. Standard features now include Stagegear’s all-new EverRoll™ casters, incorporating sealed precision bearings that provide far less rolling resistance and greatly improved lifespan. Every case the company builds is now constructed of 9, 11 or 13-ply European Birch that provides the greatest strength of any standard road case built today. In addition, Stagegear is the only case designer to offer customers a choice of three exterior finishes that perfectly match the exact requirements they have for durability. This feature, combined with the company’s exclusive use of countersunk and recessed hardware throughout, greatly reduces the risk that cases will damage each other in tight truck pack situations . The result is less scratching and blemishing of the case exteriors and a much better looking case overall for years longer than competitive models.

The S.M.A.R.T. Guide Home Recording Book Series
Posted by Scott R. Garrigus

You have your PC, your software, and all the gear you need to dive into home recording, but there's still one thing missing... the know-how. How do you record your tracks? How do you set volume levels? How do you work with all of the various features and plug-ins? What is compression and how do you use it? How do you mix and master your finished tune?

Someone recently asked me where they could go to get the knowledge they needed to do their own recordings in their own home studio... I told them that there were plenty of online resources (including right here at DigiFreq), but there's no replacement for well-written books and some of the better ones have recently come from Bill Gibson in the form of the S.M.A.R.T. Guide series:

* The SMART Guide to Digital Recording, Software, and Plug-Ins
* The SMART Guide to Recording Great Audio Tracks in a Small Studio
* The SMART Guide to Producing Music with Samples, Loops, and MIDI
* The SMART Guide to Mixers, Signal Processors, Microphones, and More
* The SMART Guide to Mixing and Mastering Audio Recordings

These books provide excellent coverage of the topic of home recording and they go further than the written page by including discs with audio examples and videos. Home recording can be easy if you're just in it to have fun, but if you want to produce a professional product, you'll need to put in the time to learn how use all the various tools at your disposal. Just be sure to remember that it's all about the music! - Comments (Reply To Topic)
