I'm trying to get a nice Tom Petty sound using my Strat and the Amplitube Plug-in. I especially like the sound of his American Girl ringing guitar. Can anyone suggest some settings?
The 80's Rev DI amp setting in the amp list sounds close but not quite it. Thank you
very much.
Very cool. Finding the vox-ac30 on that site
really showed me how to get the sound I was looking for. I did a little research on it and found out it was the amp used by many groups in the British Invansion of the 60's. Thanks!!
The Edge: How does he go from the blistering debacle of 'Party Girl' to a fat, warm, elegant sound we can't get enough of? Simple. Someone showed him how to do it for an album!
The Unforgettable Fire was a HUGE contrast to their previous work. Airy, big, ethereal, smooth, and also where the Edge's sound first appears. There were 2 producers: Brian Eno (synths for Roxy Music) and another one. His name is Daniel Lanois, and he co-produced The U Fire and Joshua Tree, and is a guitarist. It's his sound. He also scored 'Slingblade' (I reckon I like that soundtrack perty good), and produced Peter Gabriel's 'So'.
There ya go!!!
You should pick up one of Daniel Lanois CDs - they are really pretty awesome...
What about New Years Day ?, I think it is gross oversimplification to state the above.
U2 already had 4 albums under thier belt before Lanois and Eno. No-one would dispute that lanois and eno polished the sound and added thier particularly ambient touches. But if you want big how about Blood Red Sky ?
GGB, I'm sure The edge speaks highly of you too, shame....;-)
Dude, it's still The Edge playing that guitar and no matter what techniques Eno or Lanois shared with him, ultimately his personal taste and style and inherent technique fuels the sound of U2. And that sound is very genuine.
PLUS, the guy sings tons of backup vocals for Bono while playing some pretty complicated stuff.
I know from experience, playing live with a lot of delay (like he does) is not easy man. A portion of your unconscious brain has to be allocated for keeping tempo with the effect. And singing at the same time??!!
The Edge is Amazing. Without question. Undeniably.
