Scott! What's your take on all the compelling reasons why I absolutely need to jump on X2 at the end of the month?
Seriously, within the bounds of what you are at liberty to discuss, what (of substance) are we going to notice?
Of course, I'll buy it and wait several months before installing it. Then I'll add the patches and start using it. Probabbly sometime in March or so, like I have for the past umpteen years!
Hey Jim... can't really say anything more than what Cakewalk has revealed. They plan on revealing more at the end of the month. Users that don't have Expanded will be getting all those features, plus what's new. Users that already have Expanded, will get less, of course, but one major new feature that I think will make people happy is automation lanes. Editing automation in X2 is much better.
Hey Stephen... Ha! No, the book won't be ready for a while yet. I still have a lot of work to do. I'm pretty sure it won't be ready at the same time as the software release, but hopefully, not too much later.
Hey Otto... not sure what you mean? X2 will be the next version. There's no info from Cakewalk past that.
Oh, okay... I see what you mean. There's no way to know for sure, but I would tend to doubt it. It seems as though Cakewalk has moved to a longer development cycle. So we'll have X2 soon, but then probably not another major version the following year. Instead, they've been focusing on add-ons. But who knows? They could always change their minds.
Hey guys, Dang I can just about do it all with what we have now... miss you guys. I haven't had internet for a while. I'm getting back on my feet now. God bless you all......
I think that the down economy has cut into the number of buyers that can afford to upgrade - so I think that's the reason for the longer development time. There just isn't much gained in rolling out a version that won't sell.
