Yeah, it's gone now. At the time, it was too fresh, so I drilled a bunch of holes in it and let it rot a bit before I went at it.

I'll let you all know how the tests Monday after next turn out. A dark cloud is hanging over us at the moment.

Hey everyone!

What a crazy year so far. I'm still unemployed but have been doing a lot of volunteer work. Mostly working with dogs at a no-kill shelter in Seal Beach California. I love it even though there is no money in my pocket. I also volunteer with the Parks Department and am doing a lot of outside "green" work.

Music...
Through a recording/engineering class I took at a community college I've made several good contacts. I'm good friends with my instructor and helped build a small recording studio with him and his buddy who happens to be a great bass player. Through the bass player I met several people who used to play gigs led by one fantastic guitar player. They got back together again and I'm playing guitar in the new band... mostly rhythm and lead electric. We do original instrumental music leaning towards Latin/jazz/fusion. It's great for me because I'm learning so much more about playing this style and playing with good players is making me a better guitarist as well. We are rehearsing six songs for an EP we are planning to record this summer. My instructor and his buddy went their separate ways in the studio venture and now he's building another one closer to where I live. I'll be helping him set it up as well when I get a chance.
Also was contacted by a former fellow student who needed a guitar part on a few songs he was working on for CD. I finished four acoustic tracks for him before I had to start the hand therapy. When the hand is better I'll track electric guitar and mandolin. Fun stuff. He's a good writer with a great voice.

Still working in Sonar although I'm dabbling with Presonus Studio 1.

I've been taking care of my elderly parents (94 and 86). My mom was diagnosed with cancer recently.

Through my involvement with the animal shelter, I met a lady who was in a tough living situation. She moved in with me last October with her two cats. I adopted another dog from our shelter so now I'm a "family man" with a live-in girlfriend, two dogs and two cats.

Two weeks ago the girlfriend fell off a bicycle and fractured her pelvis. Now I'm a nurse and a geriatric caregiver. Kind of cuts down my free time to play music.

BUT.. music is on hold now anyway because I'm currently getting injections for the neuropathy/arthritis in my fretting hand plus injections to my left knee for bone on bone meniscus tear. Whoo-hoo.
No guitar playing for at least 2 more weeks and no motorcycle riding for awhile... can't use the clutch hand. AAAAARRRRRGGGGHHHH!!!! That's a killer! The weather here has been perfect lately for riding.

Nice to "talk" with you guys again.... it's been too long since I've dropped in here.
Good suggestion Scott.

S~

Busy having no life. Through a series of unfortunate (for me) events, I've been working about 75 hrs a week for the past 7 weeks. Hopefully that will let up around the end of the month.

At that time. I plan to collapse on the beach (with an acoustic) for about a week.

By then, perhaps sanity will be restored.

...or not...

Hey Spanky,

It's good to hear from you! Yeah, it's been a while, but it looks like you've been busy. Sorry to hear about all the health problems for you and your family. Man, when it rains, it pours, huh?

Well, at least it sounds like you're keeping your spirits up and glad to hear you're still keeping the music going.

Hey Jim,

I hope you're making some serious coin for all that work. At least that will make it worthwhile because you'll be able to have some fun later on doing some shopping... maybe even for new gear.

Hi Ed,

It's difficult to know what to say at times like these, but you have my condolences and I hope you and your family are alright.

Thanks, Scott. She had a good run. She's not in pain anymore. We'll be fine.

This was a good idea - this update on everyone's lives on Digifreq - regulars interested in sharing such things. My condolences to you Old Goat. Sometimes, at that age, dying isn't the worst thing. I've been away for the past week - up in Lancaster, PA. All I had was a tablet computer to watch how I was getting killed in the stock market on a daily basis while away. Didn't trade one stock while away - probably a blessing.

So I guess you missed the Facebook IPO, eh?

Not being in on the shares at the insider's low price - owning it before the open; I sure wasn't going to touch them at 38 or above. I think you'll see them drop all the way down to 10. It might take a year, but down they will eventually fall. Now - after that - maybe they are worth a gamble, but I really hate Facebook because of the awful "timeline", the way they just change things with no regard to the users, they violate your privacy constantly - by changing privacy settings without telling you. Now that Facebook is going to have to make money - it's probably going to be turned into something so annoying - I'll give up on it completely.

Yeah, I think you may be right about Facebook. I heard on the news that GM (General Motors) pulled all their ads from the site because the ads weren't working there. I guess we'll see what happens.

I have a page up there... http://www.facebook.com/ScottRGarrigus

But I have more followers on Twitter... http://www.twitter.com/garrigus

I just got back to Arizona last night and am just now seeing this. I've been in Virginia this past week and out of pocket.

I'm so sorry to hear you lost your mother Ed. Please accept my heartfelt sympathies for you and your family.
