Motu 24 I/O,- quad machine, 64 bit, windows 7, 8 gigs ddr3 ram, pro tools 9, waves 9.v2 bundle and every other plug in and synth on the planet. I mostly use the waves plugs though.
A behringer 24/8 analog console. monitors are behringer Truths in the walls and m audio bx-5 for nearfield. I tried to tell my frien that truths are nearfields but we got'em dialed in with ARC.
We're getting pretty good mixes but no where near what I had
with dynaudios and SP8s Soffit mounted angled speakers sound real weird because they image so good that way It''s scary. I designed and built this studio when I built mine in 2007.
We're using the Lexicon PCM Reverb Bundle and it's the best sounding plug in reverb I've heard.
Mix Tip Don't use to much reverb and set them up on auxes running full wet and not on channel inserts. |

Lexicon verbs are my fave's also. I wish I could afford the Lexicon stuff. I do have a cheap MX100 that has a few things I like but still the tails on the verbs aren't nearly as smooth and beautiful as their higher regarded boxes or plugs.
Do you find the Behri board colors your monitoring? Also, do you use any of the Stillwell plugs? |

The one effect I love most from Lexicon really is their "lexiverb", which I have a version of in the mx100 as a "special effect" - a combo of verb and delay. The other reverbs aren't so impressive except they are very pristine and clean sounding compared to some others that can be grainier and muddier. I've tried impulses before and didn't like using them so much. But that's just me. I know a lot of people really dig them. |
