Is it possible to add an effect - say reverb - to more than one track at the same time (not using a bus)? I've tried hi-liting the trks I want when adding the effect, but that doesn't work.

No, that's not possible. But after you add the effect to one track, you can Ctrl+drag the effect from that track FX bin to each of the other tracks.

I agree with Scott, BUT... be sure to save each effect with a name you'll remember, just in case you need/want to duplicate it in another project.

May I ask why you don't want to use a bus? I only ask because I once avoided them, and now I don't know how I ever built projects without them. They just seem to solve so many problems.
