I have a problem with synchronization slowly going to the dogs, using Sonar 8.5 producer, with session drummer 3. Often I'll be trying to compose a drum part, so I'll select a two measure span (snap to grid on) and set that as loop points. Then I'll let a pattern play, while I mess with the piano roll. What will happen is that each time the loop is repeated, some drums will get progressively more out of sync with the others. This makes the whole premise of trying to build a pattern by listening pretty tough, as I constantly have to keep stopping, resetting the NOW cursor, and and re-starting.
I know I've heard of similar complaints, but I can't find it. Anyone know of a solution to this annoyance?

| Its ASIO. Wouldn't use anything but that. It is definitely a new problem though... This is version 8.5 of sonar, and my older version 2.2 (!!) NEVER did anything like this. I don't know if its a clue or not, but when I use session drummer I usually route the outputs of the snare, kick, and "all other" drums, to separate outputs, so I can process them differently in separate tracks. I wonder if each is somehow getting its own software thread, which are not syncing in to the master clock continually. Because the snare, which is usually the most obvious drum, is the first you can hear drifting after a few loop repetitions. I guess I should put in a support ticket, but I don't remember anything ever getting resolved doing that. |
