Is there a way to save the staff view on a flash drive to take it to a computer with a printer?

No, not directly. But you can install a PDF printer driver and then print the Staff view to a PDF file. Do a Google search for CutePDF.

Those PDF programs don't want to run on a machine with no net connection. I transferred the project to my laptop and printed from there. All good.

I use PDFCreator from
http://sourceforge.net/projects/pdfcreator/

It's free & quite happy working on a standalone PC
