The default location is in the Application Data sub folder. For example, in XP, for a user named Joe Schmoe using Sonar 8 PE, the default location would be in:
C:\Documents and Settings\Joe Schmoe\Application Data\Cakewalk\SONAR 8 Producer Edition
The supplied instrument definitions are in a file named Master.ins
It's similar for Vista and Win7, as I recall - not at a machine right now to verify it. Make sure you can view system folders.

Thanks for your response Jim however when I click on the file you described a window opened saying that clicking on it would change my internet settings. I clicked on it anyway but nothing happened.
Would you know of anywhere else that I could get the instrument map for the Kurzweil pc88mx?
I appreciate any help with this, thanks.

Yep. That's because of your Windows file associations. .ins files open with IE. You can change them, but it's easier to just open the .ins file with Notepad (or any other non-formatting document editor.) Then you can view/edit it to your heart's content.

As far as the specific definition file, yep. You should find it at cakewalknet.

I haven't looked at it or tested it, but it should be close enough for you. For all I know it could be perfect of not even close. You can always edit it, too. You just need your MIDI patch list and implementation guide. It's fairly simple and there are lots of (not so great) guides out there.
