I managed to get CWPA9.3 to run on Vista Home Premium/Ultimate 64bit. It plays back all my old tracks perfectly, both midi and audio. However, now I would like to start recording and that's where my problem lies. I press record and it doesn't record. I checked console view and saw that it shows no meter levels. My Tascam soundcard is selected for input and output.
Since I'm better at creating music than a techie, I feel the problem is somewhere in my mixer/soundcard/keyboard hook ups. My set up is as follows:
Roland XP keyboard
Exterminal Tascam US-144 Soundcard
Behringer Eurorack MX 1804 analog mixer
Behringer Truth powered Monitors
Lenovo Pentium dual core Vista Home Premium/Ultimate 64bit, 2.50 GHz, 4.00 GB Ram
* I have midi cables runninng from Roland keyboard to the Tascam's midi in/midi out.
* The computer is connected to the Tascam sound card by USB.
* I have dual 1/4 plugs running from the Roland keyboard's output to the Behringer mixers channe1's 1&2 by dual 1/4 plugs.
* Behringer monitors into mixer via XLRs.
* Dual RCA plugs from Tascam US-144 soundcard's line out into Eurorack mixer's ALT 3/4 ALT Inserts. (THIS MIGHT BE PROBLEM)
Also, when previously recorded tracks are playing back in CWPA9, although I hear it perfectly well, I do not get a Tascam sound card meter reading when I right click the Window's taskbar (mixer) speaker and choose recording. The music playback is only coming from my computer's external speakers which does show a meter reading, but not Tascam. CWPA9 music does playback through my Behringer speakers which are connected directly into Eurorack mixer.
I know I have something hooked up wrong and have experimented to no avail. I would appreciate any help anyone can offer so I can get back into the art of recording and making music. Thanks in advance for your help.
I don't know if you have anything hooked up wrong, but it doesn't seem like it.
It could be a problem with CWPA itself or with the Tascam soundcard drivers because you trying to run them both under Vista 64-bit. This usually requires special 64-bit soundcard drivers in order to work properly.
