Would Scott have benefitted by getting the RME Fireface 800 instead of the Edirol FA-66 (I know his is green and from Cakewalk but it's the same interface as the red model)? Is the difference between the two very differently priced pieces more pronounced with analog audio signals than digital Midi? Wouldn't a better soundcard provide better A/D conversion as well as better sound through its better preamps and higher end circuitry? I/ve heard stellar reviews of both soundcards when used in the DAW setting. Bu if the difference is nil I'm saving the grand and going with the very sturdy little Edirol.

Hi Don,

Yep, usually higher priced gear does include better circuitry. This is especially true of preamps. Unfortunately, I've never used the RME so I can't comment on that piece of gear.

Scott
