I'm not quite sure what to make of this, but experienced this last evening: I opened a new project in 7.02PE and inserted an audio track & a midi track and then opened Session Drummer 2. (That's all I had opened). While playing with some of the presets in SD2, I noticed that my mouse was very sluggish and it took a few seconds (at times) to get it to move. I also noticed that my CPU Meter (at the bottom right corner) was was alternately switching 2 & 1 and then 1 & 2 (repeatedly) which seemed like it was processing something, but I only had SD2 open. Drop down menus also took a while to respond. Even Task Mgr. was a little slow to respond (which is unusual as I just built this DAW 3 weeks ago and everthing was super fast). After shutting down Sonar, the PC was fine. Has anyone experienced this?

As far as I know, XP Home does not support multiple CPUs, so you should have the Use Multiprocessing Engine option off in the Options > Audio > Advanced dialog box.
That could be causing the problem.
If you want to use the power of your dual-core processor, you should get XP Pro.
Hi Firefox, my video card is the EVGA 256-P2-N412-LX GeForce 7100GS 512MB(256MB bn Board) 64-bit GDDR2 PCI Express x16 SLI Supported Video Card. (sorry, had to cut & paste). Regarding the sample & bit rate, I'm not sure. I'll check once I get home. Should they be matching? or what should I be looking for???
Did you install the drivers that came with the video card or are you just running it off of the generic windows xp drivers? If your audio soundcard sample and bit rate is different than your sonar project, if it plays back it'll be slow and glitchy. Sounds like a video card issue though so make sure you installed the drivers that came with the video card. If you're showing the processor cores switching at the bottom this is normal and sonars seeing the processor correctly. My quad switches cores constantly in real time randomly.
I actually did update all my hardware drivers prior to installation. I haven't had any issues in play backs whatsoever (knock on wood). (Just noticed the sluggish mouse movements). Someone mentioned that I need to update a patch from MS (Microsoft XP SP2 Dualcore Hotfix) which may solve this...and also a patch from AMD (AMD DualCore Optomizer). These two updates were never done when I built the DAW (12/15/07). If you have any more info on this, I'd appreciate it
