Here is what I did to get Maschine to work as a simple plugin for Sonar

1. Open a song in Sonar
2. Load Maschine as a VST plugin select simple instrument track and be sure to select Enable MIDI Output – this will create a pair of tracks in Sonar one for MIDI and one for audio
3. Add a drum kit in the Maschine window that comes up
4. Right click the blue bar "Group A" in the top arranger section of Maschine
5. Select the option that says Sound MIDI Batch Setup
6. Click on the selection that says "Sounds to MIDI Notes"

I had to make one extra setting in Sonar. Under preferences, MIDI, down in the middle it says system exclusive and below it lists your controllers. I had to check the checkbox for the Maschine. It worked after I did these steps.

I am not sure why I had to do the setting in Sonar but maybe because I opened Sonar without any controllers plugged in and it got lost. At any rate you might or might not have to do that step but just check to make sure the controllers are checked.

I have seen more complex settings on the WEB but this is for a basic single Maschine drum set to be used in Sonar. I have read about adding each Scene as a separate MIDI input so if you want to do that do a little more research – the information is out there.

Hi Raf,

I don't know a whole lot about using Maschine yet, but this topic over at the Cakewalk forum might help:
