Posted - 05/02/2012 : 12:40:49 PM I opened Session Drummer 2 (I also tried this with ezdrummer) and started playing a groove. The meter showed it was picking up the sound, but when I tried to record, the clip was empty.
I turned the audio track to "record", then the midi track, then both tracks, and still nothing in the clip.
I don't know if I have Sonar set incorrectly -- I tend to think not, because I am getting a reading on the meter.
My concern is that I've set the sound mixer in Vista incorrectly. In XP you had many options to use as a source. In Vista, you have volume controls for "speakers" and "windows sounds" and that's it. When I first tried to use Sonar to record a DXi, the external mic of the PC was active and picking up room noise. I clicked on any button I could think of until the external mic shut off, but I think I killed my audio record capabilities. I can still hear sound. I can listen to music or watch movies, but I'm not able to record. Any ideas? I'm up a tree. Thanks. |

Posted - 05/04/2012 : 5:15:05 PM FYI, just ordered M-Audio Fast Track Pro Mobile USB interface. The ASIO drivers should be the ticket to solving my latency issues. Thanks again.

Posted - 05/03/2012 : 09:44:11 AM You're just going about it the wrong way. In SONAR, you don't record synth audio directly.
You set up a synth, record MIDI data into the MIDI track, and then you can either freeze the synth track or bounce it to convert it to audio, although neither one is absolutely necessary.
To freeze a synth track, right-click the track and choose Freeze > Freeze Synth.
To bounce a MIDI/Synth track, if there are separate tracks, select both the MIDI and synth tracks. Then choose Edit > Bounce To Tracks to bounce to a new track or Edit > Bounce To Clips to bounce to the same track.
